dressed in white FINALE

tessahscott

Almost two months later… it’s time to talk about the most important white outfit I’ve worn this year- my wedding dress! There’s a lot to cover, so let’s go.

To start things off, I always knew one thing: I wanted a tea length wedding dress. It was my entire Pinterest board and I was set on the idea for years. I know people usually say “You’ll change your mind when you try dresses on,” but I didn’t. Actually, I almost exclusively tried on full length dresses because wouldn’t you know, it’s not a popular length. Even then, I never changed my mind.

The first time I tried on dresses, I was mainly looking for necklines. I wanted to be comfortable but also choose one best for my shape, ultimately landing on a square neck.

My second time trying on dresses was when I actually chose the one. I went to Henri’s in Columbus with (almost) all of my bridesmaids and my mom. While trying on, I even found one I had tried at my first appointment which made me think “This has to be it, right?” (I was wrong)

The night before, I was browsing their site just to get some ideas. Little did I know I would ended up taking a screenshot of the one I would pick! As I said before, tea length dresses are not popular, to the point where I had none to try on, so I had to imagine a full length dress missing most of its length.

I was down to two dresses: a pretty floral fabric and one with a bow, and was struggling to decide. That’s when the genius idea came about: “Why not make a bow from the fabric you’ll cut off?” Because obviously, I would need to chop the full length dress. Decision made, best of both worlds: the floral fabric, add a bow.

Once I got my dress, I took it to a seamstress and said here’s the plan, let’s do this. I went from a full length gown with a train to the cutest tea length dress with a bow on the back and layers added underneath, for drama of course. The dress came with a belt, so she attached the bow there, even though I never really planned on taking that bow off.

It was PERFECT. I was so excited. I had my dream dress that was essentially custom. Best part about a tea length? It doesn’t hit the ground even after the heels came off! I was so pleased because it was the perfect blend of unique and classic.

I finished the look with a white satin headband, small pearl necklace, and Pashion heels. Pashion heels are the BEST because the heels can come off, transforming them into flats. While that was my original plan, they actually hurt in other places so they came off anyway. The thought was there! I did get to take them on my honeymoon and change out the heels for different looks.

Overall, from Pinterest board to wedding day, my dress was of my dreams. I loved every bit of it.

Oh, yeah, and it did have pockets.

Now… what’s next?
